The Fields of Athenry
A somber ballad by Pete St. John about a man named Michael who was sent off on a prison ship for stealing some corn to feed his children during The Great Hunger. Makes you want to go back in time just to wring Charles Trevelyan’s neck.

August 18, 2019Sorry, I’ve only made the Lead Sheet for this song. When I use it with other musicians, one or two follow the melody on their instruments and the rest of us improvise the accompaniment using the chords that appear. The percussionist just plays what feels right in the style we’re playing in.
Hope that helps!
